Works on paper.

Palimpsest is a series of works on paper that began my exploration into metaphors related to the transformation of nature and our dichotomous relationship to it. Equally, my approach to these paintings, drawings and prints was to engage in a meditative, repetitive method of applying several layers of graphite, paint or other media with reciprocal acts of erasure. I was interested in the subjects as ephemeral experiences, personalized emblems of a particular place and time--conveying a meaningful interpretation of the subject beyond illustration and created in an unrestricted process of addition and subtraction.

palimpsest  (ˈpælɪmpsɛst): 1) A document or text that has been scraped clean, for reuse.  2) Memory that has been erased and re-written.  3) Something bearing the traces of an earlier, erased form.
